In 2015, we announced a partnership with Fair Trade, which we believe is a significant step forward in continuing our commitment to improve the lives of the farmers and garment workers that support our mission. This partnership ensures the well-being and fair treatment of the people who make our products and solidifies our commitment to reinvest in their communities. Colored Organics contributes a portion of the proceeds of every purchase back to the communities of people who made the products we all love and enjoy.
The materials we purchase are Fair Trade certified, following strict equitable trade practices at every level of the supply chain. To qualify as fair trade, we buy from certified farms and organizations, pay Fair Trade prices, and submit to rigorous supply chain audits.
Fair Trade USA is the leading third-party certifier of Fair Trade products in the United States. Fair Trade USA audits and certifies transactions between U.S. companies and their international suppliers to guarantee that the farmers and workers producing Fair Trade Certified goods are paid fair prices and wages, work in safe conditions, protect the environment and receive community development funds to empower and uplift their communities. Fair Trade USA educates consumers, brings new manufacturers and retailers into the Fair Trade system, and provides farmers with tools, training and resources to thrive as international business people.
100% Organic, GOTS Certified
Our clothing is created using the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), the world’s leading processing standard for textiles made from organic fibers. Only products that contain a minimum of 70% organic fibers can become GOTS certified. All accessories, dyes, and other inputs must meet certain environmental and toxicological criteria. Additionally, under GOTS our factories must maintain a minimum social criteria, including living wages, safe working conditions, working hours that are not excessive and more.
GOTS stipulates requirements throughout the supply chain for both ecology and labor conditions in textile and apparel manufacturing using organically produced raw materials. Organic production is based on a system of farming that maintains and replenishes soil fertility without the use of toxic, persistent pesticides and fertilizers. In addition, organic production relies on adequate animal husbandry and excludes genetic modification.
